Sorry for being soo late.
Sorry for being soo late. Actually, I would like to share my experience with older classes. Of course for the young students it is amazing to use jazz songs and songs in general and that is the reason why I always teach the alphabet with a song, but also it is very very usuful with older students too. I made an experiment as I was not so sure if adults find childish to leran the alphabet through songs. So, in one group (A) I taught it with a song, whereas in the other (B) with cards mainly. The group A learnt it 4 times faster than the other group. Thus, I highly recommend songs!!!
Hi Vasiliki. That's a really good result! I love using songs in lessons whenever I can. How old are your students exactly? I always like hearing from people who teach over 50s. So much life experience to work with!
ReplyDeleteHave also used songs and phonetic symbols.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I elicit words they already know containing the same sounds (I, my, hi). Then I check pronunciation of the words listed. After that they get ready to insert the words. Then they listen to the music (without lyrics) to complete the gaps. Finally I play the song for the third and final time and make the correction by themselves or on the internet, later on.
