Hi all my dear ,
I think the most successful activities are those which you involve your Ss in their design.
And that you should vary your techniques from lesson to another , and not to stick to certain ones.
Even while teaching a certain skill , don't forget that language is one whole.
With practice , I'm sure you will expand your techniques to : Listen to speak better , listen to write better , and even listen to use grammar much accurately in a natural approach , and not just listen for an immediate task .

  1. Hi, Abdelhady, I don't know about involving students in the design of classroom activities, but I am quite sure that personalising them can make it so much more interesting. Did you know that the most frequently used word in English is "I"? :-)

    What about the word "me" ?
    I mean make your Ss , sometimes , the stars of your stage , the designers of your flashcards and wall charts , the developers of your class games..and so on..

  3. I like the ideas of personalization here. Having students design the visual aids they use might make it more memorable and meaningful to them. As for games, I've found that students change my games to make them more fun or more challenging. And I watch to see what and how they play during break times to try and adapt their play to learning activities, too.

  5. I remember that in Ethiopia I wanted to make the English Language Improvement Centre a little less bare and asked my students to look for quotes on language as such and the English language in particular. The best six quotes went up on the wall on large size posters.
